Introduction to computing and structured problem-solving for young learners.
Learning at Royal Kids International School blends the British National Curriculum with the Nigerian Curriculum, delivered across Key Stages 1 and 2 in Port Harcourt.
Established in January 2007 by Mrs. Faith Nene Edeme, the school delivers a curriculum that combines the British National Curriculum with the Nigerian Curriculum. Teaching is built around individualisation, participation and strong learning networks, so that each child is known and supported.
The academic programme covers Key Stages 1 and 2, the primary phase in which reading, writing, number and practical skills are established. Alongside core lessons, children take part in clubs that extend learning beyond the classroom.

Our academic programme is organised around the two key stages of primary education, each building firmly on the last.
A well structured academic programme is the backbone of any strong school, and the right blend of curricula can shape how children understand the world around them. When local and international frameworks are woven together thoughtfully, learners gain both a sense of cultural identity and a broader global perspective. This kind of dual approach encourages children to see knowledge as connected rather than compartmentalised, helping them draw links between subjects, traditions, and ways of thinking. Over time, pupils develop a more confident voice in the classroom and a stronger sense of curiosity beyond it, supported by lessons that value both heritage and wider horizons in equal measure.
At the heart of a blended curriculum sits the idea that every child learns differently and deserves to be known as an individual. Teachers who pay close attention to each pupil's strengths, pace, and interests can tailor lessons in ways that build participation, responsibility, and independent thinking. Strong learning networks among staff, parents, and students help reinforce what is taught during the day and carry it into home life and the wider community. When children feel seen and supported, they are more likely to take ownership of their goals, ask meaningful questions, and grow into confident learners who enjoy the process of discovering new ideas.
Beyond core subjects, a balanced academic life includes the creative, physical, and personal development that shape well rounded students. Music, PSHE, and a wide range of co curricular activities give children room to explore talents they might not discover through textbooks alone. These programmes also teach important skills such as teamwork, discipline, and kindness, qualities that sit alongside academic attainment as part of total child development. By weaving enrichment into the school week rather than treating it as an extra, schools help pupils understand that learning is a joyful, ongoing journey that touches every part of who they are becoming.
Across Key Stages, a clear and progressive curriculum structure helps families understand what their children are learning and why. When academic goals are communicated openly, parents can play an active role in supporting study habits, attendance, and the small daily routines that add up to long term success. A shared focus between home and school also reinforces values like respect, focus, and responsibility, giving children consistent messages as they move from one stage to the next. This partnership approach ensures that academic progress is matched by personal growth, preparing young learners for the next chapter with confidence and a genuine love of learning.
